Ruby's Garden

In memory of Ruby Howard we present "Ruby's Garden".
Please join us and take a walk through 'her' garden.
I met Ruby when she was 79 years old. She was a very unique individual who never ceased to amaze me. She was caring for approximately 100 homeless cats when I met her. Some were ferals from a local shelter, others she had adopted from shelters or found on the road. Still others were thrown over her fencing into the two acres where she kept those lucky cats.
Her cats had everything. They had a safe haven where they could run outside and had wonderful housing, when they wanted to be indoors. It was a perfect set up. Ruby cared for each and every one of the cats, dogs, hens, goats & sheep that came into her life. The cats & dogs were all spayed and neutered and all were taken to the vets whenever they were in need.
I think one of the hardest things Ruby had to do, was to let go of her precious cats. A few years ago, she was no longer able to stay on her property and care for her little "angels", so together we set up a wonderful area here at 'Not So’ Purrrfect Angels, we fondly call “Ruby’s Garden” where her cats can still play outside, in a protected environment, and find comfort in the indoor area.
Ruby had told me before she passed on December 19, 2007 that if she was younger she would like to set up her place to house all the cats with illnesses (Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia) so it would not be necessary to euthanize them when they still have a few years in the case of Leukemia and several years in the case of Feline Aids left to live. Ruby’s Garden now houses some of her remaining cats and those who are FIV positive. As you can see from the pictures it is a very serene and peaceful place and which I’m sure Ruby is very proud.
Ruby we love you and we miss you. We will carry on your love for the animals and promise to take care of your babies and all those that come into our lives.
